Effective 2026-10-29 · Version 1.5

OBD readings, VIN, diagnostics and GPS trips stay on your device; the app does not send them to Firebase or advertising. No OBDScan account is required. With permission, location shows position/speed and detects trip start; it may continue during visible recording, subject to system limits. Exporting or sharing is your choice and may include VIN and coordinates.

2. What information is generated and stays on your device

3. Firebase

Firebase Remote Config and Installations use the internet, technical data and an installation identifier even with Usage analytics off. Firebase Analytics remains disabled until you confirm sharing during onboarding or enable Usage analytics in Settings. It receives screens, usage events and technical information and, if you choose a vehicle while this option is enabled, its make, model, year, model identifier and catalog version, together with the place in the app where you confirmed the choice. The identifier refers to a model in the shared catalog, not your physical vehicle. It does not receive routes, VIN, DTC or readings. You can disable it in Settings; this stops new events without automatically deleting information received previously. Trip cloud sync and push notifications are not active.

In Android and iOS versions that include Firebase Crashlytics, crash reports are sent automatically to Google/Firebase to diagnose failures and improve stability. Reports contain stack traces, app and OS versions, technical device information and installation identifiers. This operates independently of Usage analytics, including in Pro. OBDScan does not attach routes, precise coordinates, VIN, DTC, vehicle readings or a user identifier. Retention follows Firebase’s policies.

4. Google AdMob / UMP

The free version integrates Google AdMob and checks consent through UMP before requesting ads. Advertising providers may process IP/approximate location, identifiers, interactions, viewed ads and crash/performance data for advertising and measurement. Pro disables the app's ad requests. Advertising options in Settings, when available, are independent of Usage analytics.

5. Third parties involved

OpenStreetMap (Android) and Apple Maps (iOS) receive map requests and network data, without OBD history. Google Play and App Store manage purchases and restores; OBDScan receives verified transactions, not bank card details. Firebase, advertising, maps and Cloudflare hosting may process data abroad and retain records under their policies. Local deletion or withdrawing consent does not automatically erase previously received records.

6. Your rights

You can delete/export trips and sessions, revoke permissions and disable Usage analytics. For access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability or consent withdrawal under applicable law, contact the controller; describe your request without unnecessary VIN, routes or documents. Third-party requests follow their policies. Local data remains until deleted; support messages remain as needed to handle requests and meet legal obligations. You may contact the relevant authority.

7. Security

The operating system protects local storage; secure your phone too. The app is intended for adults. This site uses Cloudflare, which may log network data for security; it integrates neither Firebase nor AdMob and stores site preferences locally. The Spanish notice governs; translations are provided for convenience. Changes carry a date and version.

OBDScan

Honest OBD-II diagnostics: it tells you what the ECU says, and it also tells you what it cannot know.
